BRAGA & ASSOCIADOS was founded in 1985, initially as a law firm specializing in the registration of brands, patents and copyrights.
Since that time, BRAGA has already protected these rights of its customers, through judicial measures of Search and Seizure of counterfeit products, as well as compensation actions.
Over the years, BRAGA designed licensing work for the emblems of major Brazilian Football Clubs, for companies interested in launching products featuring these famous brands.
This licensing work with large clubs was pioneering in Brazil, giving rise to the need to combat piracy, as the market was infested with products that used the emblems of these clubs, without any authorization.
Today, BRAGA & ASSOCIADOS - ADVOGADOS is known internationally as one of the most traditional firms for combating piracy and protecting the intellectual properties of its clients, notable for its work in high-profile cases.

Each invention aims to present something new to society and bring some benefit. The new product always arrives with a new technology, a new appearance, with more speed and practicality, even benefiting users with the new improvement of existing objects and contributing to the development and evolution of society, in a more simplified and modern way.
When we protect the Brand, we are protecting our company's visual identity and products and services. The Patent is directly linked to a product, it is something concrete, visible and tangible. Every time we talk about a patent, we are referring to something new, which is essential for registration: novelty.
To patent a new invention, the author must meet all the requirements of novelty, inventive activity and industrial application. The period in which the patent holder can exploit it exclusively is limited: it can be 15 or 20 years, a time determined according to the type of invention, be it Invention Patent (IP), Utility Model (MU) or Industrial Design (ID).
Validity period depends on the modality being requested:
PI - Invention Patent - 20 years
MU - Utility Model - 15 years
DI - Industrial Design - 10 years + 15 years (renewal).
After the established period of exclusivity, the patent will become public domain, and anyone will be able to exploit it without needing to request authorization from its holder. The State grants a period of privilege to the patent holder, where only he can explore and benefit from his idea, and may also, if there is interest, authorize third parties to exploit the patented product.
